The CAWES Board of Directors is made up of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about supporting women and children fleeing domestic violence. Guided by strong community values, our Board works together to support the shelter’s vision of creating a safer, healthier future for families in the Red Deer region and beyond.

Through our mission to protect, support, and empower those we serve enabling them to live free from domestic violence, the Board provides strategic leadership and governance for the organization.

As a governing body, the Board sets policy and strategic direction while entrusting the day-to-day operations of the shelter to the Executive Director. Board members also help guide CAWES’ mission, vision, and strategic priorities while supporting strong governance through program oversight, financial stewardship, community engagement, and the recruitment of future board members.
