We are currently seeking volunteers to help with the following positions:

Child Support

We are looking for mature, responsible, and FUN individuals to help out the child care team in-house.  If you love kids and would like to give back to your community this is a terrific position for you!  Child Support volunteers are responsible for planning and supervising activities for children staying at the shelter, whether it is in-house or out in the community.

Moving Volunteers

We require volunteers to assist with moving clients into their new accommodations.  Volunteers must have access to a truck and/or trailer and be willing to do some lifting.  This is a great way to get your friends and family involved, and also to lend a hand in helping women build a life away from domestic violence.

‘Soul Sisters’ Community Support Volunteer

We require volunteers interested in assisting clients to connect with community resources.  CAWES will focus on pairing volunteers with women who are unfamiliar with community agencies and supports currently available in Red Deer.  By providing this type of peer support, we can help connect clients with appropriate agencies, thereby helping them to reach their goal of living a life free from violence.

Room Makeovers

Our room makeover projects are a great way for groups to work together as a team while making a lasting contribution to women and children in crisis.  It’s been over 8 years since many of our rooms have been renovated and are in desperate need of a facelift.  In the past, volunteer groups have chosen to paint, re-decorate, equip the rooms with new bedding, accessories, etc….generally create a unique space for our clients and their children to relax and heal.  It is up to the volunteer groups to organize/fundraise for the project…although we will help in any way we can.

Fundraising

We have loads of fundraising opportunities throughout the year, and are always looking for extra help.  With help from volunteers, we are able to host successful fundraising events including the RBC Run and Walk for Families, 'What a Girl Wants' Champagne Breakfast and Fashion Show, Destinations: Dinner and Auction, and many many more!   Check the CAWES homepage regularly for news about upcoming events!
