  VOLUNTEERS

Our agency is fortunate to have a committed group of volunteers to donate their time and skills, supporting support women and children caught in the cycle of abuse and domestic violence. The sense of having done a good thing and contributing to such a worthwhile “C.A.W.E.S.” is what volunteering is all about. Volunteer work builds on our sense of community and gives us valuable experience.

There are many other benefits to volunteering with the shelter:

  • Developing skills working with children.
  • Documented hours for work experience or reference purposes.
  • Increased awareness of family violence and child abuse.
  • Building new relationships, making new friends and becoming an active member of the community.

  OPPORTUNITIES

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with the following positions:

  • Child Support

We are looking for mature, responsible, and FUN individuals to help out the child care team in-house.  If you love kids and would like to give back to your community this is a terrific position for you!  Child Support volunteers are responsible for planning and supervising activities for children staying at the shelter, whether it is in-house or out in the community.

  • Reception

Our receptionist volunteers are responsible for answering phones, accepting visitors, and other small administrative tasks around the shelter.

  • ‘Soul Sisters’ Community Support Volunteer

We require volunteers interested in assisting clients to connect with community resources.  CAWES will focus on pairing volunteers with women who are unfamiliar with community agencies and supports currently available in Red Deer.  By providing this type of peer support, we can help connect clients with appropriate agencies, thereby helping them to reach their goal of living a life free from violence.

  • Fundraising
We’ve got tons of fundraising opportunities throughout the year, and are always looking for extra help.  With help from volunteers, we are able to host successful fundraising events including the RBC Run and Walk for Families, Casino, Dinner and Auction, and many many more!   Check the CAWES homepage regularly for news about upcoming events!

We are always open to any ideas or comments that you may have. If you have any special skills or a class you would like to teach please contact us. Come offer your time and abilities to our organization, download a volunteer package today and become part of a very important team!!
